2008 has been a busy year for everyone at Great Lakes Radio! Today we all pause for a moment in honor of National Boss’s Day! From everyone here at Great Lakes Radio, we want to say THANKS to our boss, Todd Noordyk! Day to day at Great Lakes Radio we all know Todd is an integral part of the network and he’s responsible for so many different facets of the company! Great Lakes Radio is involved in so many cool community events and as a team, we thank Todd for making so much of this possible!
Todd founded Sunny 101.9fm WKQS after hours of hard work at the tower site and studios, Sunny 101.9 finally went on the air LIVE on January 5, 1998 in Marquette County! It’s been Ten Great Years and Great Lakes Radio is now a network of FIVE Stations - WKQS Sunny 101.9fm, WFXD FOX 103fm, WRUP Classic Rock 98.3fm, WPIQ Power Radio 92.7fm and WQXO Good Time Oldies 1400am!
We kicked off the 2008 Year in honor of TEN GREAT YEARS with a special Anniversary Celebration and the first ever, Let-it-Snow-Liberty-Super-Sport Snowmobile Giveaway at Country Lanes & Entertainment Center of Ishpeming! The 2008 Spring season was filled with local sports broadcasts and live remote broadcasts at local businesses and events! As summer approached, we started getting busy with promotions! Remember, this is YOUR chance as Marquette area residents and our listeners to visit with us at live events like the County Fair’s of the U.P., Sneak Peak Premiere movie events, MANY Giveaway’s & Contests, Parades, Local celebrations and of course our annual Colgate Country Showdown’s! The local U.P. Community has always been our focus and outreach here at Great Lakes Radio and we’re proud to say we’ve been all over the U.P. this year!
2008 has also been a year of growth and expansion here at Great Lakes Radio as Todd decided it was time to diligently work towards upgrading our station websites because there’s always something FUN going on at Great Lakes Radio and NOW you can find us and all that’s happening on the web at our various sites and blogs!
So on this National Boss’s Day, everyone here at Great Lakes Radio would like to say “Thanks again Todd, we appreciate all you do and we all know we couldn’t be where we are without YOU”!
