Encrypted Email Service Silent Circle Shuts Down They “See the writing on the wall”

A few hours after Lavabit seems to have closed its doors allegedly to  side-step a federal investigation into Edward Snowden alleged use of Lavabit’s Encrypted email server, Silent Circle also has closed down.

The most telling reason is in their member statement, which in part says:

“We see the writing on the wall, and we have decided that it is best for us to shut down Silent Mail. We have not received subpoenas, warrants, security letters, or anything else by any government, and this is why we are acting now.”
