In response to the ongoing disaster at the Fukushima nuclear facility in Japan, petitions with 150,000 signatures a letter with scores of organizations from around the world are being delivered to the United Nations today. The documents back a proposal to United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, from 16 top nuclear experts urging a transfer of responsibility for the Fukushima reactor site to an international engineering group.
Today, at 1pm, Green Shadow Cabinet Fukushima subcommittee members Harvey Wasserman, Jill Stein and Margeret Flowers will join others at the United Nations in New York City to deliver the petitions and letter.
