August 13, 2013 — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will suspend construction and reopen lanes on major state highways surrounding Michigan International Speedway (MIS) for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 race on Sunday, Aug. 18. Construction will be suspended from 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21.
Construction at the US-23/US-223 interchange in Monroe County is now complete with all lanes and ramps open at the interchange. MDOT says that after the race M-50 will have two lanes for outbound traffic and one lane for inbound traffic with a new wider shoulder between Brooklyn and Napoleon
