Snyder Commends Senate Committee for Action on Healthy Michigan Plan

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder Wednesday issued the following statement commending the Senate Government Operations Committee for its action on House Bill 4714, the Healthy Michigan plan:

“The Healthy Michigan plan will have a positive impact on the lives of nearly half-a-million residents, save tax dollars and protect our state’s economic competitiveness. I applaud the Senate committee and its chairman, Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, for acting responsibly and thoughtfully by advancing this critical legislation. Sen. Roger Kahn and his work group were instrumental in moving the bill forward, and deserve appreciation for their leadership as well.

“Healthy Michigan is designed by Michiganders for Michiganders. It is tailored to the needs of our state. Enacting this initiative will save money for Michigan taxpayers and job providers, rein in skyrocketing medical costs, improve Michigan’s business climate and boost our economy. This is an opportunity that we can’t pass up. Too many Michigan lives depend on it.

“Timeliness continues to be a key factor in this discussion. Now that the committee has moved this legislation forward, I join millions of Michiganders in urging swift and positive action by the full Senate. We’ll be a stronger, healthier state because of it.”
