Snyder Appointment to Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointment of Sheryl Thompson, of Reed City, to the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery.

The 11-member board sets entry-level competency and verifies continuing medical education during licensure for about 8,000 osteopathic doctors in the state.

“I appreciate Sheri’s willingness to serve our state by accepting this appointment,” Snyder said.

Thompson will represent the general public for a four-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2016. Most recently, she worked as vice president of Thompson Milk Hauling. She also serves as secretary on the Osceola County Community Foundation board of directors and a trustee of Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital. Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and social science from Hanover College. She will replace Kathleen Carney on the board, and her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
