LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Alexis Wiley of Detroit, to the Health Endowment Fund Board.
The fund’s purpose is to benefit the health and wellness of Michigan residents with significant focus on programs for children and seniors throughout the state. Priority areas include infant mortality, wellness and fitness programs, access to healthy food, technology enhancements, health-related transportation needs, and foodborne illness prevention. In addition, the fund is required to implement a program to subsidize the cost of individual Medicare supplemental, or “Medigap” coverage, to help senior citizens in financial need.
“I am confident Alexis will do good work in supporting the efforts to improve the quality of health care for some of Michigan’s most vulnerable residents,” Snyder said.
Wiley will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring Oct. 1, 2019. Her appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
