LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder announced the reappointment of Ed Callaghan, of Royal Oak, to the Michigan Employment Relations Commission.
The three-member commission is responsible for resolving labor disputes involving public-and private-sector employees. No more than two members may belong to the same political party.
“Dr. Callaghan has served this commission well and his 40 years of professional experience will continue to be an asset in encouraging a spirit of fairness and cooperation between labor and management,” Snyder said.
Callaghan has been a full-time business faculty member at Oakland Community College since 2005. He previously served as president of OCC’s Orchard Ridge Campus and as vice chancellor for human services and college communications. Callaghan also worked for Dearborn Public Schools, Henry Ford Community College and Wayne County Community College. Callaghan serves on the boards of Henry Ford Health System and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit, an MBA from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.He will continue to represent Republicans.
Callaghan will serve a three-year term expiring June 30, 2017. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
