Snyder makes appointments to Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointments of Brian Brunner, of Mount Pleasant, and Franklin “Frank” Peterson, of Battle Creek, to the Michigan Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.

The nine-member board assists the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs in overseeing the practice of more than 840 Michigan podiatrists.

“Brian and Frank bring outstanding, diverse experiences to this board and I am confident they will do great work in these roles,” said Snyder.

Brunner is assistant director of the Central Michigan University athletic department’s Chippewa Athletic Fund. Previously, he worked as a sports reporter and blogger for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, as a staff writer for the Saginaw News and as a blogger for NCAA.com. Brunner holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University. He will represent the general public and fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Charles Morris.

Peterson is city manager of Springfield, a position he has held since 2007. Previously, he served as city manager of Grant and as city planner in Lafayette, Ind. Peterson earned a bachelor’s degree in public law and a master’s degree in public administration, both from Western Michigan University. He will represent the general public and fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Lily Gee.

Brunner will serve the remainder of a four-year term that expires on June 30, 2014 and Peterson will serve the remainder of a four-year term that expires on June 30, 2013. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
