LANSING, Mich. – Michiganders who receive family planning services through the Plan First! program should call the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services if they have new contact information.
Plan First! recipients should call 877-522-8050 as soon as possible to provide MDHHS with any update in their mailing address and telephone number.
As Plan First! ends, MDHHS will conduct reviews for all recipients to determine eligibility for other Michigan Medicaid programs including the Healthy Michigan Plan.
Anyone who has private health insurance purchased through the Marketplace with Advance Premium Tax Credits and is determined to be eligible for Medicaid coverage may have tax penalties. To avoid these penalties, contact the Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov or call 1-800-318-2596.
Anyone who does not want MDHHS to review their eligibility for Medicaid if they receive Advance Premium Tax Credits can call 877-522-8050 by Feb. 8 to opt out.
Plan First! coverage for individuals will end once MDHHS has made a determination regarding that person’s eligibility for Medicaid.
Plan First! was approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2006 for family planning services for uninsured women ages 19 to 44 who were not eligible for Medicaid. Since then, the Healthy Michigan Plan launched and expanded health care coverage to approximately 600,000 residents who were previously ineligible for Medicaid, resulting in the decision to terminate Plan First!
Anyone with questions should call 1-877-522-8050 or TTY 1-866-501-5656.
