LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointments of Tara Fulton, of Dexter, and Judy Hauser, of Waterford, to the Library of Michigan board of trustees.
The 13-member board makes general policy and budgetary recommendations concerning the Library of Michigan to the Michigan Department of Education. In addition to the governor’s appointees, the board consists of members appointed by the Speaker of the House, House minority leader and both the Senate majority and minority leaders.
“Tara and Judy are outstanding, experienced professionals, and are great choices for this board,” said Snyder.
Fulton is dean of Eastern Michigan University’s library, a position she has held since 2010. Previously, she served as dean of library and information services and associate vice president for academic affairs at Lock Haven University, and as associate director of library and information services at Bucknell University, both in Pennsylvania. Fulton holds a bachelor’s degree in German, a master’s degree in library and information science, both from Indiana University; a master’s degree in education from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in higher education from The Pennsylvania State University. She will represent librarians from a special library and replaces Elaine Logan.
Hauser is an information media consultant for Oakland Schools, where she has worked since 1985. Previously, she held the positions of information specialist, library technician and project coordinator. Hauser is past president of the Michigan Association for Media in Education and a former member of the Michigan Library Digitalization Task Force. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology and archaeology from Oakland University and Western Michigan University, respectively, and received a master’s degree in information and library studies from the University of Michigan. Hauser will represent librarians from a public or private K-12 system and replaces Barbara Bartlett.
Appointees will serve three-year terms that expire Oct. 1, 2015, and their appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
