Congressman David Camp to Michigan: “I’m Busy”

Latest Republican Refusing to Run for Levin Seat, Camp Prefers Role Destroying Medicare in House of Representatives

LANSING — Congressman David Camp is the latest in a growing number of potential Republican candidates refusing to run for Senator Levin’s seat. Camp told the The Weekly Standard yesterday that he was too “busy” to run for Senate. In fact, Camp holds a leadership role in the Republican House Majority and has been busily supporting Washington Republicans’ attempts to dismantle Medicare and force seniors to pay thousands more for their health care. “Congressman David Camp claims he’s ‘pretty busy’ in the House so he can’t seek higher office, but Michigan families know he’s just busy destroying Medicare,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lon Johnson. “Camp’s message to Michigan might be Do Not Disturb, but he knows full well we don’t support his agenda that undercuts middle class families and costs Michigan jobs, and it never would have been successful statewide.”

To commemorate Camp’s refusal to run for Senate, the Michigan Democratic Party launched the following hashtag, #DoNotDisturb and encourage folks to RT and share their own ideas. The first tweet will read:

Camp is too busy to run for Senate. Must dismantle Medicare. #DoNotDisturb
