Hoekstra Statement on Stabenow’s New Negative Attack Ad
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra released the following statement after Debbie Stabenow began running a new negative attack ad against him:
“This shows that the race is tightening and she is becoming desperate. We put up an ad about vision and the future and she counters with a 100 percent negative ad scaring women and seniors because she has no plan to create jobs.”
BACKGROUND
Ad Claim: Hoekstra would cut Medicare and end guaranteed benefits.
Fact: Stabenow voted to cut Medicare by $716 billion to fund ObamaCare. Hoekstra supports a traditional Medicare option for future retirees and returning the $716 billion back into Medicare.
Ad Claim: Hoekstra would deny women access to mammograms, cancer screenings and birth control.
Fact: Women would still have access to mammograms, cancer screenings and birth control with Pete Hoekstra being a U.S. Senator. This is an absurd claim.
