LANSING—State Sen. Howard Walker, R-Traverse City, offered the following statement Thursday after Gov. Rick Snyder delivered his 2014 State of the State address:
“I’m excited about what I heard tonight. Governor Snyder showed that Michigan’s recovery is dramatic and still going strong.
“The governor continues to focus on creating more and better jobs, helping to ensure a productive future for our children and improving the quality of life for all Michigan residents.
“I am happy to report that the state has added more than 220,000 jobs in the last three years, and job providers and innovators are once again investing in Michigan. Since 2011, three consecutive structurally balanced budgets have turned a $1.8 billion deficit into a nearly $970 million surplus.
“We have accomplished a lot. But hard work remains to be done. I am ready for another productive and successful year working with my colleagues and the governor.”
