Former Supreme Court Justice Bob Young came out on top of the most recent poll for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Young received 11% of the votes, while John James and Sandy Pensler received 9% and 5% respectively. Strategical National conducted the poll of 600 likely republican primary voters December 16-17.
“The voters know I am the only proven conservative leader in the race and have the experience and knowledge to go toe-to-toe with Debbie Stabenow in November,” said Bob Young. “August is a long way away, but the support and traction I have seen across the state is beginning to show in the polls and will continue to do so.”
The Strategic National poll was released just a day after Young won the 14th Congressional District Straw poll with 45% of the vote compared to James’ 31% and Pensler’s 24%. The 14th Congressional district marks the third straw poll victory by Young, who also won the 11th Congressional District Straw Poll, and the coveted Mackinac Straw poll by wide margins.
“If conservatives want to defeat Stabenow next November, we need to coalesce around a proven conservative now.” Said Young Campaign Manager, Bryan Posthumus. “Having won every straw poll conducted to date, and leading in the scientific poll heading into to 2018, Bob Young is the clear candidate to rally behind”
