President Obama’s campaign has doubled-down on their out-of-touch spin that 23 million Americans struggling for work and 8.6% unemployment in Michigan is the “right direction” and “right track” for our country. They must be taking cues from their boss who recently said his economic plan has already “worked” – despite the dismal economic situation families across the country face.

In the Detroit News on Friday, President Obama’s  Michigan spokesman stated that two months of increasing unemployment demonstrate that Michigan has “turned a corner” and is “moving in the right direction.”  Now again today President’s spokesman told the Saginaw News that Michigan was “back on the right track.”

Here is an on-the-record response from me:

“The Obama campaign’s claim that we’re ‘back on the right track’ – just as unemployment across Michigan rose again last week – is unbelievable. Since President Obama took office, we’ve seen fewer jobs, lower incomes, and skyrocketing national debt, all while the middle class is working harder for less. If this is what the President calls the ‘right track,’ Michiganders know they can’t afford four more years of it.” – Sean Fitzpatrick, Romney Spokesman

Today, Romney for President and the Republican National Committee released a coordinated television advertisement, “Believe In Our Future.” Throughout his life, Mitt Romney has shown he has what it takes to turn troubled enterprises around. As president, everything he does will be focused on restoring economic security for the middle class and helping our country achieve a brighter future:

Across the country, small business owners continue to speak out against President Obama’s insulting remark that, “if you have a business, you didn’t build that.”  Business owners – like all Americans – realize the only way to get America’s economy back on track is to elect a president who understands hard work and entrepreneurship build businesses, not government programs:

Michael Duffy, The President Of Per Mar Security Services In Iowa, Said President Obama’s Comments “Reveal A View Of The Economy That Is Fundamentally At Odds With Most Americans.” “But there is another context that is equally if not more important than the one surrounding Obama’s comments in Roanoke, Va. It is the greater context of this president’s actions and words over the last several months and indeed his entire presidency. They reveal a view of the economy that is fundamentally at odds with most Americans, and they help to explain why the president has had so much difficulty turning around the economy.” (Michael Duffy, “Business, Not The Government, Built This Country,” Iowa City Press-Citizen, 7/29/12)

The anger and frustration felt by our job creators following President Obama’s insulting comments continues to spread. As noted in an op-ed in today’s Wall Street Journal,  what America needs is “a climate that helps us grow,” not more of the same anti-business rhetoric coming out of this administration:
“If we accept the plain meaning of Mr. Obama’s speech, it indicates that he does not believe in the importance of entrepreneurs in creating businesses. But if we accept the reinterpretation of his speech in light of his administration’s deeds, it indicates a belief that a hostile regulatory climate poses no danger to economic growth. Either interpretation means that this administration is not good for business.”
