Plainwell, MI – On January 11, 2016 exactly 4 months after her removal from the Michigan State House of Representatives, Cindy Gamrat filed the paperwork for a new LLC, Stop Surveillance Abuse and just eleven days later on the eve of the ABC 20/20 story covering her expulsion, launched a new and unique website, StopSurveillanceAbuse.com.
“Surveillance abuse is rapidly growing due to the affordability and advances of surveillance technology and can be used to control, dominate, manipulate, or destroy another person. Abusers are commonly someone a person knows like a romantic partner, spouse, co-worker, relative; or they can be a stranger,” says Gamrat.
Gamrat decided to begin this new endeavor after recognizing the devastating scope of this issue during her own traumatic experience of living under surveillance and then hearing a friend’s compelling story of her inability to get help while living under surveillance.
“There are many new means of surveillance, and with the advancement of technology they have become increasingly invasive and difficult to detect to the point where people are bugged, monitored, followed, video recorded, or have had their phones, texts, and computers hacked unknowingly or against their will. This degree of surveillance can cause damaging fear, degradation, and trauma to the individual being monitored, ” Gamrat shared.
Gamrat will be teaming up with PCG, an Ohio based consultant firm, offering seminars to help those dealing with these issues. Seminars are already scheduled in Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania with more planned for across the nation.
Gamrat stated, “There is not another good resource available for people living under surveillance to find the help they need. SSA is committed to building a directory of resources of professionals, businesses, and organizations that are dedicated to helping people in this difficult situation, such as counselors, professional investigators, attorneys, and more. We also have a page on the website where those who are going through or who have overcome Surveillance Abuse can share their story to encourage others and spread awareness.”
StopSurveillanceAbuse.com is committed to raising awareness of this new form of abuse and empower those dealing with this devastating violation of privacy to get the help they need to overcome it.
