HGTV Star Carter Oosterhouse Comes to Lansing to Tout Development Of Parks And Playgrounds in Low-Income Neighborhoods at Building Michigan Communities Conference

Who: Traverse City native Carter Oosterhouse, one of America’s most recognized lifestyle experts, host of HGTV’s Carter Can, Red, Hot & Green, Million Dollar Rooms and a regular contributor to the Emmy Award-winning

What: Osterhouse is the closing keynote speaker at the 15th annual Building
Michigan Communities Conference. He is the founder of Carter’s Kids,
an organization dedicated to building and developing community parks
and playgrounds in low-income areas in an effort to promote healthy living.
Carter’s Kids has brought playgrounds to areas across the nation, including
Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas and Miami. Carter has also teamed with
Rooms To Go. For more than a decade, Rooms To Go has helped the
environment by saving 96,000 tons of solid waste from reaching landfills.

The three-day Building Michigan Communities Conference (formerly the
Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing) in Lansing is the nation’s largest
event of its kind and is attended by experts and advocates on housing,
