When JP & Walt were approached to bring together the hottest morning show this side of the Mighty Menominee River, they quickly realized that they couldn’t do it alone. Oh sure, they could bring the news, the sports, the entertainment. They could bring the interviews with law-makers, the movers and the shakers (not to mention the Quakers, the bakers, and the candle-stick makers), but what about the ever elusive insight into the community that is sorely lacking in radio these days? How could two mere men hope to convey the opinion of an entire community without stepping on toes?
JP & Walt traveled across Yooper Land. They went to the backwoods of Marquette County, to the home of Bezzmer the Sasquatch where he was busy perusing the interwebs on his Rock Box 6400 (which, while looking like a computer, was little more than a large rock with a Windows logo hastily etched into what one can only assume to be the screen). Sasafras had no answers for the morning duo.
While trekking back to Da City, they came across the host of The Outdoor Show on Fox 103, Adam Carpenter. Adam was busy taking notes on the fishing situation in Lake Superior, so JP and Walt tried to sneak by without disturbing him (which wasn’t hard to do as Adam had his favorite bluegrass tunes playing).
Once they got to Marquette, they met many other people:
Film critic, Brodie Mann, who knew more about entertainment than any one person does, or for that matter should.
“The Phenominal” AJ Hayes, whose affinity to Chuck Norris was second to none, if not a bit weird.
They met moms, dads, husbands, wives, miners, bankers, musicians, students, and even the occasional Bears fan (though they quickly ran away from them). They met all of the hard working men, women, and children that make this area Home, and that’s when it hit them. They needed one more co-host. A co-host that would encompass the outdoors people, the movie buffs, the average joes, and even the Bears Fans. They needed you.
JP and Walt then extended their hands and their microphones to the entire community, and said, “Tell us what YOU think.” What are your thoughts, opinions, hopes, passions? What makes you tick Marquette County?
The welcome mat is out. The show is on the air weekday mornings from 6am – 10am on Sunny 101.9 and there’s a special chair saved just for you. So join us on this roller coaster ride that we proudly call Marquette County’s “Sunny Side Up.”
