[Web Droppings]: Republicrats

Its officially on like Donkey Kong. The race to the White House on the campaign trail in 2008 that is. There has been so much talk of former Democrats that were supporters of Hillary Clinton jumping the fence to the McCain Camp. And likewise, there has been rumblings of former Republicans tired of the same ol’ song and dance from the GOP hopping onto the Obama-ma-tron (yeah its new, I’m coining it, spread it around!)…not to be confused with Obama-Matrons. Obama-Ma-Tron is like a dance move, or a super cool future robot, or Six Flags Ride…..

Anyway. Today’s [Web Droppings] is for those of us that are sick of both parties. Sick of the bickering. And most importantly, sick of any kind of reasonable thought. Allow me to present our next POTUS, Sean Masterson, Republicrat!

Just some of Mr. Masterson’s radically innovative ideas:

  • Economy: “I will double the value of the dollar overnight,” says Sean Masterson. How? “By discontinuing the $1 bill and issuing new $2 bills we’ll call the new dollar. Exchange your old, weak $1 bills for the new, superstrong $2 bill today! Two is the new one!”
  • Immigration Reform: We’ve always welcomed the best and the brightest. Once the 700-mile wall between Mexico and the United States is completed, we establish a 100-mile long “Obstacle Course to Freedom” corridor in the desert, ensuring that only the fittest, most able-bodied immigrants make it into our nation.
  • Gay Marriage: Yes. Because everyone knows sex after marriage is nonexistent. So if you oppose gay marriage, you’re actually supporting more gay sex.

Republicrats is a web-exclusive video series from MSN Video, and is sprawling into so much more! So take a break from the poison of politics, and indulge yourself in the comedy of the Republicrats, because “Two parties weren’t confusing enough.”

…Sure, it boils down to a creative attempt to get users to upload videos to MSN Video, but damn its fun!

[Web Droppings]: Guitar Hero…ish

Web Droppings is our never-ending effort to waste your time, make your work day a bit easier, or at the very least, give you something neat to pass along in office emails.

So by now you’ve all heard of, if not played Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Both of the titles are games that “simulate” actually playing a guitar. There’s so much talk going on about these two titles right now as they both will have new versions coming out this fall or holiday season, we’ve decided to dedicate today’s [WD] to some of the better Guitar Hero clones out there guaranteed to decrease your productivity.

  • Guitar Master: This is a fun little game, however the songs are short and there’s a lot of lag between key hits and key recognition. The upside is if you don’t want to look like too much of a dork and work on your home row positions, it uses the standard “asdjkl.” Otherwise we’d suggest moving right past this one.

  • Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe: This little gem offers up quite a few songs to choose from. Downside is the use of different keys in the same screen positions depending on whether you are hitting or holding the note.
  • Molson’s Amped Up: This game isn’t too bad…well, the thought was there. Unfortunately the thought was advertising. This game allows you to hold the keyboard more like a keytar, and uses music from well-known bands, but like Guitar Master the input is laggy, eh?
  • Guitar Hero 3 Online: As expected, this is probably the best Guitar Hero experience you can get at work. The song selection is a little lacking, but the game play is there, so you’re guaranteed a fix to alleviate your rock jonz.

[Web Droppings]: Garfield Minus Garfield

Web Droppings is our never-ending effort to waste your time, make your work day a bit easier, or at the very least, give you something neat to pass along in office emails.

Today’s [Web Droppings] comes to us from our very own Brodie Mann. Everyone loves that lasagna loving orange cat Garfield, but I personally thought he would one day drive Jon to a killing spree leaving Odie in a wake of rage and marinara.

Well we see this in today’s [WD], Garfield Minus Garfield in which we see classic Garfield cartoons without, as the title suggests, Garfield. This leaves Jon appearing to be a shriveled neurotic mess. Which is where we all knew he’d end up if it weren’t for Jennifer Love Hewitt.

[WD]: Sarah Jessica Parker=Horse?

Web Droppings is our never-ending effort to waste your time, make your work day a bit easier, or at the very least, give you something neat to pass along in office emails.

We’ve all thought it. There may be many, MANY Sex & the City fans out there, but unless you’re squinting one eye and poking out the other, or REALLY hard up for a date (sorry Matthew Broderick), the simple fact remains: Sarah Jessica Parker does in fact look pretty horsey. Not a full on Penelope Cruz mind you, but we are definitely bordering on Mr. Ed status.

What do you think? Horse face, or pleasantly fugly? Leave your comments. Until tomorrow, we’ll see you at the trough. And please, if you are a fan, no long faces.

[WD]: Mod Play NES in NES Cartridge

Web Droppings is our never-ending effort to waste your time, make your work day a bit easier, or at the very least, give you something neat to pass along in office emails.

We all remember when the original Nintendo Entertainment System came out. Society has since moved past our beloved gray and black box to brighter and shinier things…ooo shiny!

However, for many of us, the original is still the best. Though these days, aside from throwback references for t-shirts, and nostalgic midnight runs of Super Mario Brothers (ahh Captain Lou), the NES has been left to modders the world over.

So why not self contain a Nintendo into the cartridge itself?

I’m not sure how practical this is, but I’m pretty sure I want one.

[WD]: Long live Blu-Ray!

In case anyone out there cares, and has been living underneath a rock for the past two days, Toshiba has officially announced that they are discontinuing production on all HD-DVD players and other related media. What does this mean? In the great HD format war, Sony’s Blu-ray has emerged victorious. And all that money you spent on HD DVD, well, you’re gonna have to spend it again on Blu-Ray. [WD]: Like James Bond, cool gadgets and underwater cars?

Well, if you can answer yes to any or all of those questions, and you have 1,000,000 euros (approx. $1.46 million) just laying around not being spent on stuff (and let’s face it, who doesn’t have $1.5 million laying around), you too can own this prototype car.
